Two Raging Grannies is a warmhearted documentary about two brave ladies who want to challenge capitalism. Walkers screeching, they set upon a quest to try and find an answer to this question: Why does economy have to keep growing and can our planet handle it?
Shirley (90) and Hinda (84) are best friends. They know each other so well that they bicker all the time and almost about anything. However, there’s one thing the girls agree on: the finance world of today is not sustainable, continuous economic growth is not feasible. The problem does not concern only the economists, it concerns all of us. Shirley and Hinda decide to solve the issue.
The question about the necessity of economic growth turns out to be a surprisingly difficult nut to crack. The women call the World Bank, infiltrate an economic conference and an economy lecture but there doesn’t seem to be an answer. These sweet old ladies manage to enrage bankers and business men with their questions.
Two Raging Grannies is an exhilirating film with positivity and humanity. The grassroots activism of Shirley and Hinda acts as a wakeup call: What has the world come to? Are we on the right path? Does everything have to keep growing? Who has the answers?
