When Viikate was born in 1996, it identified its niche in music scene as to carry on the tradition started by the legendary Finnish band Lyijykomppania. Now Lyijykomppania is back on track again, but Viikate's job is far from done: the younger band has by now created their own, instantly recognisable style, as well as attracted a respectable number of loyal fans. Heavy guitars and melancholy spiced up with a hint of schlager, that's a combination that always works like magic on Finnish minds, and that's the infallible recipe of Viikate as well. |
