Todd Haynes:
I'm Not There (USA / Germany, 2007)
135 min - 35mm - English.
Production: Killer Films
Distributor: Scanbox Entertainment
I'm Not There is an unconventional journey into the life and times of of the legendary singer/songwriter Bob Dylan. Six actors (Marcus Carl Franklin, Ben Whishaw, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Richard Gere ja Cate Blanchett) portray Dylan as a series of shifting personae - from the public to the private to the fantastical - weaving together a rich and colourful portrait of this ever-elusive American icon. The film tells its story using rather non-traditional techniques, much like the poetic narrative style utilized in Dylan's songwriting. Like Dylan's music, with which it is lovingly suffused, I'm Not There is the purest quicksilver, slipping through cracks and crevices to the poetic heart of the world. It's the first biographical feature project to secure the approval of the music legend.
