Nasyr Abdul Al-Khabyyr, Dennis Chambers, Kenwood Dennard, Horacio ‘El Negro’ Hernandez, Giovanni Hidalgo, Mike Mangini and Raul Rekow are all connected by their love for drumming. This instrumental affair has led them into playing with some of the musical greats such as Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Dream Theater and Carlos Santana. Now Nasyr’s invitation has brought them into the rugged beauty of Canadian wilderness to hold a drum camp.

A Drummer's Dream is a movie about a reunion of some of the finest drummers in the world who impart their technique, appreciation of music, and philosophy to forty enthusiastic students. It is a player’s daydream filled with unimaginable time signatures, rolls, fills, and skills; just watching the practise beats of the world’s fastest drummer Mike Mangini are enough to make you sweat.

Both a documentary and an instructional video, A Drummer's Dream is filled with warm, heartfelt humor. You don’t have to know how to play drums to enjoy it; it will bring rhythmic joy even to the most talentless table tapper. Especially the Latin jam at the end of the camp, where students and teachers alike take their turns behind the drum set, causes the feeling of joy to simply jump out of the screen.
