JP Passi, Jukka Kärkkäinen:
The Punk Syndrome / Kovasikajuttu (Finland, 2012)
85 min. - Finnish - English subtitles
Choosing the opening film for Rokumentti 2012 was an easy task. We, the Rokumentti staff, truly think this documentary is the most awe-inspiring movie experience of the year. The decision was unanimous. The winner was the best documentary of the year.
The Punk Syndrome, directed by JP Passi and Jukka Kärkkäinen, has received all the praise possible including the State Award in Finland – and it has all been well deserved. The documentary is a success that only happens once every decade. The film could not have had better timing, it is sincere, funny and touching. And more importantly, it is all about the unconcerned in-your-face attitude. And some kick-ass punkrock.
Oh, and The Punk Syndrome is about Finland’s best punk band called Pentti Kurikan Nimipäivät. Fu&%ing Hell!
