In 1978 the skateboard-building expert George Powell and the top skater Stacy Peralta joined their visions and forces in a way that left an indelible mark in the entire skate culture. Following the Powell Peralta brand came Bones Brigade, an amazing professional group of skaters assembled by Peralta. By 1984 they had become the most successful group in the history of skateboarding.
Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain, Tommy Guerrero and Mike McGill didn't only collect a mind-boggling amount of awards, but also passionately renewed skateboarding and, subsequently, the sport took a climb to a whole new level. Simultaneously, the Powell Peralta products, Stacy Peralta's legendary videos (such as The Search for Animal Chin) and the group's skull symbols gained fame.
Gradually the glamour faded and the owners of Powell Peralta were driven to business disagreements. Stacy Peralta headed for Hollywood after a new career in film, George Powell continued producing skateboarding gear and the members of Brigade all drifted to different directions. Nevertheless, they are still remembered as the pioneers of skateboarding culture that continue to inspire generation after another.
Bones Brigade: An Autobiography is masterpiece consisting of zeitgeist, quality interviews and rare archive footage. It is also a must-see for anybody who shows even the slightest interest in the skateboarding scene and its history.
