During the 1970s, Belfast in Northern Ireland was one of Europe's most intimidating places to live. Disorder and acts of violence, dubbed The Troubles, overshadowed the everyday life of the area, causing people to live in fear. Good Vibrations is a true story of how one man set about fighting the status quo in a different way.

Music-loving Terry Hooley was a radical and a rebel. Instead of taking up arms like his friends did, he decided to set up a record shop, in the most bombed out area of the city of course, and named it Good Vibrations. Hooley became Belfast’s godfather of punk, and inspired budding musicians to go out and take back their city with their music.

Good Vibrations is a warm-hearted drama, and also a look into the early era of British Punk when John Peel put Teenage Kicks by The Undertones on power rotation and made the whole of Britain interested in small-town punks. The film is a passionate and funny portrayal of the awesome power of music.
