Lamb of God: As the Palaces Burn
Don Argott:
Lamb of God: As the Palaces Burn (USA, 2014)
121 min. • English
In 2012, director Don Argott initially set out to film the metal band Lamb of God on their world tour. However, in the middle of filming the tour took a nightmarish turn – the vocalist of the band, Randy Blythe, was arrested in Prague, and accused of killing one of their fans. Stemming from an unfortunate accident, the accusation caused the band to cancel the rest of their tour, including a show at the Tuska Festival in Helsinki. Chaos was complete.
Starting as a tour documentary, Argott’s film changes its course the moment the band arrives in Prague. The film group is submerged to a Kafkaesque chain of events that confuse fans, friends and other followers of the band. Lamb of God is in crisis as Blythe may, at worst, face a 10-year prison sentence. Camera follows the tormenting juridical drama that will settle the future of Lamb of God.
This captivating film is a must-see for metal-heads and for those not into the genre, equally.
