An eye-opening journey into the dirty world of greenwashing
Environmentally friendly electric cars, sustainably produced food, fair trade production processes… There are endless remedies to soothe the climate anxiety, but is it really possible to save the world by shopping? The Green Lie aims to answer this question.
With thinkers such as Kathrin Hartmann and Noam Chomsky, an award-winning director Werner Boote reveals in his most recent film the dangers of the green sheen. The film takes us around the world, exposing how the problems of oil companies and palm oil producers take the toll on our shopping bags. Our consumerism has a direct impact on the earth and the people who eventually pay the price of our shopping spree.
The Green Lie reveals the marketing speeches of the multi-million companies are like the emperor’s new clothes - they are full of nothing. While this film is depressingly topical, it also gives a glimmer of hope for a better future.
