Cinematic adventure on an epic scale

Into the Ice is a journey of discovery to the vast masses of ice that will change life throughout our planet, a documentary about science, nature and adventure – about the scientists, who have dedicated their lives to explore the secret of our future that the ice is harbouring.

Despite many years of research, we still have no clear answer regarding how fast the Greenland ice sheet is melting. This question director Lars Ostenfeld seeks to answer when he sets out on an expedition with three of the world’s leading glaciologists: Alun Hubbard, Dorthe Dahl-Jensen and Jason Box. They share the idea that climate research can’t rely solely on satellite measurements and computer models. Scientists must be where the changes are happening. All three are putting their lives on the line, because ultimately they share the same goal: To gain new knowledge of the ice sheet that can help us understand what action must be taken now – and in the future.
