Two women, two countries, two revolutions
The 70s and 80s, Romania and Iran, two revolutions, two women in the middle of them, beautiful light and texture drawn by a film camera - these are the compositions of Between Revolutions.
Zahra and Maria, who met at the University of Bucharest in the 70s, drift apart when Zahra senses the great upheavals taking place in her native Iran and the fire of resistance leads her to return to Iran. Separated by revolutions and revolutionary dreams, friends continue to communicate through letters that convey the longing of two women for each other as world-historical upheavals roar in the background.
Balancing between documentary and fiction, Between Revolutions is poetic, intimate and personal, but at the same time intertwined with global political upheavals. Spiced up with historical, beautiful archival footage and a fine music track, Zahra and Maria's one-on-one correspondence moves the film forward smoothly. Sometimes it is good to look outwards and study the events of world history from today's perspective. How many lives were affected then, how many are affected by today's events. However, the most important thing is to stick together and remain human until the end.
