We all have our own deserts to cross
E is the fevered, delirious finale of Anna Eriksson’s trilogy – a cinematic hallucination scorched into celluloid. It carries viewers into a desert of reality – a place where rules blur, meanings vanish, and the deadliest threat comes from within: one’s own double. These shadow selves seek to annihilate their originals, clearing a path to the Metaverse – a realm where symbols, myths, and human connection hold no sway.

At the center of the story is Eva Vogler, Finland’s former Prime Minister, whose scandalous anasyrma – a brazen exposure at the Nobel gala next to Crown Princess Victoria – propels her deep into the heart of this barren landscape. She insists the woman onstage was her evil twin — a doppelgänger forged from scandal and shadow. This Eva reeks of power, decay, and déjà vu. She is the mirror image of Sanna Marin, down to her post at the spectral Blair Witch Institute.

Trailed by both truth and deception, companions, mirrors, and lost shadows, every step she takes draws her closer to disappearance, revealing how our own doubles can turn against us with merciless intent. Watching E feels like chewing sand. Eriksson’s vision reaches its most radical form here - a hypnotic collision of performance and politics, where spectacle is sovereign, yet beneath the glittering rot lies a howling spiritual emptiness. The characters flail, stumble, crawl through the void.

You don’t watch this film. You live it. This is truly a must see.
