Why March When You Can Riot?!

A Korean, Sri Lankan, and Croatian bloke from Sydney’s rough suburbs walk into a pub... and start a band. The rest, as they say, is history. They were “the guys with three different skin colours,” and they proved to everyone that the only rules worth following were their own. In this doco, the founding members spill the beans on how it all kicked off - and let's be honest, the attitude's clear from the get-go: the band was called Hard-Ons knowing full well it would never get played on the radio!

Forty years on, the Hard-Ons are still alive and kicking, guitars in hand and flannel shirts on their backs. With more than 20 albums, countless world tours and an undying love for music, they’ve never lost the wild teenage spark that once had parents worried and, eventually, radio stations eating out of their hand. Hard-Ons serve up a hard-boiled cocktail of the unexpected – the kind that makes British punks choke on their afternoon tea. And don’t even get me started on Ray Ahn, the bassist who’ll win you over with his use of the "f"-word as punctuation – you're guaranteed a bloody good time!

Anyone who’s watched MasterChef Australia knows this land’s bursting with a melting pot of nationalities, where not just restaurant cultures thrive, but music’s got a bloody strong pulse too. With music in their veins, they battled parents, racism, and the world. If you’re keen to know how one of the world’s most fun and reckless punk bands got started - and get a visual tribute to the multicultural vibe of Sydney while you’re at it - then this film's for you! It’s a dream that came true against all odds, despite every challenge.
