“How many people from Rauma have made an album that might one day be sent into space?”
Professional flutist Pauli (Samuel Kujala) returns to his childhood home in Rauma after suffering a breakdown. There, he reconnects with his old school friend Iiris (Anna Rosaliina Kauno), who persistently persuades him to join her in creating strange, unconventional music no one knew they wanted to hear. Their friendship – and this freer, more experimental way of making music – helps Pauli confront his struggles with mental health.
A Light That Never Goes Out ('Jossain on valo joka ei koskaan sammu') had its world premiere in the ACID section of the Cannes Film Festival. The film marks Lauri-Matti Parppei’s powerful directorial debut and stands as a sincere love letter to his hometown of Rauma.
