Being a black metal pioneer in a small town isn’t easy
Naamioitu Kapina is a documentary about Tunrida, a black metal band from Juva, Finland. But being a black metal pioneer in a small town isn’t exactly easy. The rural setting doesn’t offer many opportunities for extreme music, and the sleepy town doesn’t provide much excitement for young guys.
Released in 2005, Naamioitu Kapina explores Tunrida’s black metal philosophy, while also telling a familiar story about the struggles of being in a band. It’s a charming glimpse of the real people behind the black-and-white face paint.
