Thank you all!

Rokumentti packed five days full of stories about our favorite bands, bold voices of today, and heroes both real and fictional. Tapio was alive with everything a festival brings – big laughs, misty eyes, and most of all, the joy of sharing it all together.

That’s what feels important right: doing things side by side, listening and seeing each other, and being truly heard and seen. These shared moments help us understand each other, and our world, a little bit better.

If Rokumentti sparked something warm in you, let’s keep that spark going. Pass on a little good, and see how far it travels.

See you again!

Over 40 Screenings: Rokumentti’s Full program is here!

Rokumentti’s silver screens will be lit up by the legends of rock and punk – Led Zeppelin, Yungblud, Sex Pistols, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and The Dandy Warhols – alongside the celebrated film composer Michel Legrand, the visionary jazz eccentric Sun Ra, the iconic indie rock band Pavement, and Japan’s anime megastar Ado.

In addition to a rich selection of music documentaries and live recordings, this year’s lineup dives into urgent and thought-provoking social themes. Lowland Kids follows America’s first climate refugees, The Encampments is a gripping portrayal of student resistance movements, The Dating Game, explores China’s explosive post–one-child-policy dating industry, and Orwell: 2+2=5 is a sharp dissection of the contradictions in Western societies.

No need for a light therapy lamp this November: Rokumentti is all the brightness you need! For five days, Joensuu’s Tapio Cinema Center will host an inspiring, timely, and downright electric lineup of films and documentaries to energize the darkest season.

Rokumentti takes place from Wednesday to Sunday, November 12–16, 2025, at Elokuvateatterikeskus Tapio, Joensuu. Ticket sales starts on Monday, October 27th at 10 through Savon Kinot’s online store and at Tapio’s box office during opening hours.

See you at Rokumentti!

First Bite of the Rokumentti Programme!

The Nordic region’s largest music film festival kicks off its programme reveal with fifteen dazzling titles.

On the documentary side, the big screen will be lit up by Gogol Bordello, Kreator, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Alien Weaponry, Pauline Black, Hard-Ons, and PMMP.

In music fiction, the spotlight shines on the long-awaited comeback Spinal Tap II: The End Continues and Cameron Crowe’s cult classic Almost Famous, celebrating its 25th anniversary. Adding further sparkle, the line-up also features Anna Eriksson’s trilogy finale E and Kronos Kairos, hailed as Herra Ylppö’s surrealist masterpiece.

The festival’s themed “Kipinä” section packs even more punch, with a Saudi Arabian road movie, a climate action documentary, an undercover mission against Russia’s propaganda machine, and an exuberant artist portrait bursting with creativity and unrelenting passion.

Now that’s a line-up to get excited about!

The full festival line-up will be revealed during October, with single tickets and ticket-books going on sale at the end of the month.

Rokumentti ignites a spark – the 2025 theme and dates are finally here!

The Nordics’ biggest music film festival returns to Cinema Tapio from Wednesday to Sunday, November 12–16, and this year’s theme is Spark.

Even the fiercest blaze begins with the smallest spark. It might be that split-second of courage that finally overpowers fear and drives someone to step forward for a better tomorrow. It can be a force – within one person, a community or the entire world – that sets lasting change in motion, for better or worse. A spark can light the way, but at times it can also burn.

At Rokumentti, we trace sparks from their very first flash to their far-reaching impact, exploring through many films just how far one tiny ignition can travel.

Alongside the theme programme, Rokumentti lights up the big screen with this year’s most captivating and thought-provoking music films, pop culture gems and bold societal stories.

Programme announcements will drop throughout the fall. Festival ticket books and single screening tickets go on sale in October. All additional info can be found on rokumentti.com.

The countdown to the brightest week of autumn starts now!
